One county north of the strictest code in the country
The High-Velocity Hurricane Zone covers Miami-Dade and Broward, and it stops at the BrowardβPalm Beach county line. Broward is the northernmost HVHZ county; Palm Beach is not in it. That means a product here needs the standard Florida Product Approval rather than the stricter Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance. It is a code distinction, not a risk distinction β the hurricanes do not recognize the county line β so on a coastal Palm Beach home, impact protection and a sound roof still matter enormously to both eligibility and price, even though the letter of the code asks for less.
